The 'D' You Probably Need More Of....

Leah Foti

We’ve all heard about vitamin D, right? There is a good chance that your doctor has recommended you take vitamin D supplements as almost half of Americans have a vitamin D deficiency.

Vitamin D is essential to overall health and has many anti-inflammatory properties.

What does Vitamin D deficiency look like?

Muscle pain

Fatigue

Seasonal Affective Disorder

Slow healing

Increased illness

Bone loss/ joint pain

Have you experienced any of these symptoms?

Where do we get Vitamin D? Historically, our bodies naturally absorb vitamin D directly from sunlight. Now, we spend our days inside, wear clothing and sunscreen to cover ourselves from the sun and eat a primarily Western diet that does not contain food sources rich in vitamin D.

So, what do we do? Take Vitamin D supplements?

We wish it was that easy!

Have you ever tried shopping for supplements or vitamins? It’s stressful! There are so many different types of brands for one vitamin (especially vitamin D). How do you choose? What are all those numbers? 2000 IU...um what? With so much information circulating, it can become confusing and overwhelming quickly!

Each person has a unique set of needs for vitamins and nutrients. Therefore, we recommend you go to your primary physician to inquire about which vitamins you may be lacking in. When introducing supplements under the advisory of your doctor you should try to bring awareness to how your supplements make you feel and adjust accordingly.

As health coaches, we can assist you in product research, comparison, and quality, but ultimately the person who calls the shots is you. Why? Because you are unique and you owe it to yourself to know what it feels like to have your body and mind thrive!
